“What I have done I have done because it has been play. If it had been work, I shouldn’t have done it … The work that is really a [wo]man’s own work is play and not work at all.” — Mark Twain
I’m a word-shaping, Web-wrangling creative with a red pen in my hand and a propeller hat on my head. I tackle communication challenges with both sides of my brain, designing/developing websites, crafting copy and editing existing content. My job is to translate your ideas into a message that’s delivered clearly, attractively and compellingly, whatever the medium.
My tools of choice include:
- Adobe CS
- Social media
- The English language: expertise in grammar, spelling, composition, flow and precise targeting for the specified audience
Before creating Sands Communications in 1990, I was a:
Technical Editor, Syracuse Research Corporation, Syracuse, NY (3 years)
Senior Copywriter, Sage Marcom, Syracuse, NY (4 years)
Research Assistant, Syracuse Research Corporation, Syracuse, NY (1 year)
Marketing Assistant, Maniktala Associates, Syracuse, NY (1 year)
Le Moyne College (Syracuse, NY): BA, English/communications (minor, psychology)
My greatest passion? That’s easy: learning. I’m insatiably curious about everything, and I strongly believe there’s nothing we can’t learn, with enough passion and determination. When I’m not geeking out, I enjoy kayaking, boating, travel, art (sketching, painting), technology, and anything else that strikes my fancy (or that Pinterest lures me into). I’m crazy about beaches, my dogs, my family, and summer — not in that order. In an ideal world, I’d be at the beach with my family and dogs, and the only season would be summer.
